About the Author
The author, Rochelle O'Neal Thorpe, has always enjoyed
sharing stories, whether oral or written. She gained this talent by
listening to her grandfathers and other elders as a child growing up
in both the urban and rural areas of Oklahoma.
Rochelle's great grandparents were African slaves and
Native Americans who made Oklahoma their home following the Civil War
and the "Trail of Tears."
They settled in Davenport Oklahoma. In 2006 the small town of Davenport, Oklahoma turned
100 years old.
Rochelle aims to generate more understanding and increase
tolerance in society by focusing on the commonality within all cultures
while treasuring their unique differences like she has personally.
Speaking some fluent Mandarin Chinese and conversant in Spanish and Japanese, Rochelle has helped
to further this goal.
Rochelle has a Master of Arts from Emerson College in Integrated Marketing Communications. She also obtained a Bachelors of Business Administration
from the Isenberg School of Management and a minor in Chinese Language
and Literature from the University of Massachusetts in Amherst, Massachusetts.
